Hiking and forest bathing
Treks in the Florentine hills and around Tuscany, with a licensed guide. Plus forest bathing: walking slowly, standing still, looking.
In short
NatureFitFlorence runs hikes, treks and forest bathing sessions across Tuscany, guided by Alessandra Caselli, a licensed environmental hiking guide under Tuscan regional law 86/2016. Past outings have taken in Monte Falterona, Pratomagno, Populonia, the Teso forest, the island of Capraia and the Madonna del Sasso sanctuary. Dates are published in the timetable and the newsletter, and outings can be guided in English.

Why go out
Outdoor activity strengthens the immune system, partly through the vitamin D your body synthesises in sunlight. But the real reason is different: practising in a natural setting restores a relationship that is easily lost in a city.
Forest bathing
It began in Japan as shinrin-yoku. It is not a brisk walk, nor a sporting hike: you walk slowly, stop often, stay quiet. The aim is not to get somewhere, but to notice where you are.
Where we have been
- Monte Falterona and the sources of the Arno
- Pratomagno
- Populonia and the gulf of Baratti
- The Teso forest
- The island of Capraia
- The Madonna del Sasso sanctuary
- Wild herb identification
- Wolf census
Outings vary in difficulty and have a limited number of places. When a date is announced, the description gives elevation gain, duration, difficulty and what to bring.
