In short
The NatureFitFlorence hike to the Madonna del Sasso sanctuary is a short route, around 10 kilometres with about 430 metres of ascent, in the Poggio Ripaghera protected area in the Sieve valley. It closes with a collective meditation in the garden in front of the sanctuary. Led by Alessandra Caselli, a licensed environmental hiking guide.

A wood you don't expect
The Poggio Ripaghera area is underrated precisely because it is close to Florence: you get there in little over half an hour and find yourself in a varied wood, rich in flora and abundant springs. It is not a mountain: it is a hill that behaves like one.
The sanctuary
Built around a boulder of pietraforte, perched on the slope. The walk reaches it after a couple of hours, and the contrast between the effort of climbing and the silence of the garden is exactly what makes the closing meditation make sense.
Who it suits
A good first trek: ten kilometres with moderate ascent are within reach of anyone who walks regularly. No experience needed, decent boots are.
